Uraidla win back to back
The 2023-24 Division 2 final between Uraidla and Crafers was a re-match of the 2022-23 final . Once again Uraidla narrowly came out on top, this time by a set and 3 games after claiming the final singles rubber of the day in less dramatic circumstances than in the previous year.
Rubbers were even after the doubles as the top double was won by brothers, Ryan and Adam Gore in a tightly contested first set against Graeme Goldsmith and Lynton Manuel, 7-6 6-1.
The second doubles went the way of Crafers, with Evan Tyack and Jamie Yates overcoming Tristan Wright and John O’Brien in a super tiebreak in a tightly contested match, 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.
E.Tyack claimed a convincing win over T.Wright 9-3, and shortly after G.Goldsmith won in a tiebreaker (9-8) over A.Gore to give Crafers the ascendency.
J.O’Brien dug deep to mount a comeback against J.Yates, to eventually clinch the rubber in the tiebreaker (9-8), to keep the tie alive.
Based on other results, the final match was a winner takes all battle between Nick Leidig and R.Gore. After some ebbs and flows to the match, R.Gore eventually came out on top to clinch the match 9-5 and with it, the Division 2 final.
Final score: Uraidla 3–5–52 defeated Crafers 3–4–49
