AO 1 Point Slam!
Uraidla Hosted a AO 1 Point Slam
On Wednesday, Uraidla Tennis Club proudly hosted a One Point Slam event as part of Tennis Australia’s exciting pathway to the Australian Open. The One Point Slam is a fast-paced knockout competition where each match is decided by a single point, with the winner progressing to the next round and the loser eliminated.
Our event attracted 17 entrants across junior boys, girls, men and women categories, with players travelling from various clubs around Adelaide to compete alongside our Uraidla members.
Where Competition Meets Community
After an action-packed afternoon of high-stakes tennis, Aahan Soni emerged as the champion and will now represent our region at the South Australian State Championship on 20-21 December. Should Aahan win at states, he’ll earn a coveted spot in the One Point Slam main draw at Rod Laver Arena during Australian Open Opening Week in January, where amateurs will compete against professional players for the chance to win $1 million.
Beyond the competitive action, the event was a wonderful showcase of what community tennis is all about. Players from across Adelaide came together, cheered each other on, and made new connections both on and off the court. There was plenty of laughter, friendly rivalry, and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the afternoon.
Congratulations to Aahan on his win, and a huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the day such a success. Events like this remind us why we love our sport and our tennis community.
