Tribute to Adrian Pobke

Vale Adrian Pobke, OAM

25/2/1946 – 11/11/2024

Adrian was a long time member of the Uraidla Tennis Club, joining for the 1985-86 season. Adrian was a crafty player, using spin and slice to outwit many an opponent. One of his early highlights at Uraidla was being part of the 1985-86 Division 7 premiership team playing alongside wife Chris.

During his time at Uraidla, Adrian also held executive positions on the management committee of the Hills Tennis Association serving as treasurer and as president at different times. A staunch advocate of the Doubles-only competition, Adrian captained and managed our club’s first team in this competition, and went on to win premierships in Doubles-only in 1992-93, 1993-94,1995-96 and in 2006-07.

Adrian served as treasurer at Uraidla from 1996-2001 and vice-president from 2004-2007, and remained on the club’s management committee until his passing.

Awarded life membership of the club in 2008, Adrian was a true servant of the sport of tennis. He became the Uraidla voice at association meetings during his long service with the Hills Tennis Association, willingly sharing his knowledge of the sport at our club meetings.

Adrian faced many challenges during his time as a tennis player and as a tennis administrator, but ultimately his final health challenge proved to be the toughest.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences go to Chris, son Matthew, daughters Michelle, Fiona and Belinda, and their families, at this sad time.

Rest in Peace.
